The state allows sex sexual activity and same sex marriage has been legally recognized since June 2015 following the Supreme Courts decision in Obergefell v. Hodges.
In September 2014 conflicting judgments were issued by both state courts regarding the constitutionality of denying marriage rights to same sex couples in Louisiana. This issue was ultimately resolved by the U.S. Supreme Court when it deemed bans unconstitutional in Obergefell v. Hodges on June 26 2015. Shortly after this decision Governor Bobby Jindal announced that the state would adhere to this ruling and grant licenses, for same sex marriages.
